Hubicación: Puente Ferroviario N° 1 -  Sector Lealtad –  Ruta Cantera Deuco,  Km.  4   al Sur Oeste  de  Angol,  Rivera  Río Rehue.

Solicitud de Declaración de Patrimonio Histórico y Arquitectónico de Angol el “Puente Ferroviario   N° 1”.

En atención a la valoración de nuestro Patrimonio Arquitectónico, la Historia Ferroviaria de nuestra zona, y el estar inserto dentro de uno de los circuitos turísticos de Angol, en marco de la celebración del día del Patrimonio Nacional.

Propuesta formulada por la Oficina de Turismo Municipal y apoyada por la Agrupación Cultural “A mí me gusta la Historia de Angol”, con respecto a la Valoración y Conservación del Patrimonio Arquitectónico Comunal y el Desarrollo de Circuitos Turísticos de la Comuna de Angol.

Aún es posible soñar y viajar en el tiempo a través de la historia de los puentes ferroviarios, muchos testigos de una época que se fue, a continuación, se presenta una breve reseña histórica del Puente Ferroviario N° 1 sobre el río Rehue.

Uno de los más románticos puentes ferroviarios de Angol, es el que se ubica entre Angol y Deuco. Su fascinante historia comienza cuando durante el gobierno del Presidente Sr. Aníbal Pinto, llamó a propuesta por Decreto Supremo del 05 de septiembre de 1883, para construir la línea férrea entre Angol y Traiguén. La firma que se adjudicó la construcción fue Mayers y Hilmann, conformada por los contratistas norteamericanos Esteban Mayers y Carlos Fletcher Hilmann, quienes comienzan su diseño y construcción, simbólicamente se pone la primera el 24 de Enero de 1884 y la obra  queda en  manos del Ingeniero en Jefe  Victorino Aurelio Lastarria, el mismo que descubrió la Cantera de Deuco con cuya piedra se construyó la albañilería de los puentes de la línea Angol - Traiguén y  Roblería - Collipulli, entre ellos el Viaducto de Malleco.

El puente que cruza en 45 metros el río Rehue, fue diseñado por la fábrica Clarke y Reeves y Cía. de la ciudad de Phoenix, Estados Unidos. Era el puente más moderno de la época, similar a los que se construían en Estados Unidos con vigas del sistema Linville, con articulaciones empernadas, tirantes y columnas en su base.

La Columna de Phoenix, patentada por el estadounidense Samuel Reeves en 1862, era un cilindro hueco compuesto de cuatro, seis u ocho segmentos de hierro forjado clavados juntos. Esta columna era más ligera y liviana que las construidas de hierro sólido.

El Batallón de Zapadores, fue destinado para ocuparse en los trabajos de albañilería, armado y construcción del Puente. Los militares comenzaron el terraplén del puente el 18 de febrero de 1887, en tanto el hierro fue enviado desde Phoenix y se armó en Angol, tanto las columnas y articulaciones de hierro pudelado o batido.  Como curiosidad esta Empresa fabricó el hierro pudelado utilizado en la Torre Eiffel construida entre 1887 y 1889, que es también el mismo hierro con que fue construido el puente sobre el Rehue camino a Deuco, dos construcciones unidas por la misma fábrica, y por la misma época.  Se inaugura el 24 de octubre 1972  y en el año 1975,  se cuenta con el   1°  Jefe Estación Angol.

El Trabajo de Hierro de Phoenix (1855: Empresa de hierro de Phoenix; 1949: Hierro Phoenix y Empresa de Acero; 1955: Corporación Acero Phoenix), ubicado ende Phoenixville, Pensilvania, era un fabricante de hierro y productos relacionados durante el Siglo XIX y principios del Siglo XX. La Empresa Phoenix de Hierro fue un importante productor de cañones para la Unión del Ejercito durante la Guerra Civil. La compañía también produjo la columna de Phoenix, un avance en material de construcción. Las instalaciones de la empresa son un componente esencial del Distrito Histórico de Phoenixville, un Sitio de Registro Nacional de Lugares Históricos que fue reconocido como monumento histórico por ASM internacional en el año 2006.

OBJETIVOS

- Mejorar el estado del camino generando el desarrollar el turismo en nuestra comuna.

- Brindar  una nueva vía para  llegar  a las Cantera Deuco

- Formar conciencia pública de recuperación y protección del patrimonio históricos

- Complementar ruta con un una ciclo vías que comenzaría desde el Puente Malleco a Canteas Deuco.

- Recuperación y protección de recurso histórico.

- Mantener limpio el sector

 

ACCIONES

-Solicitar a los Parlamentarios y otras Autoridades  que respalden el  Proyecto  que  beneficiaría al  desarrollo turístico local  y además mejoraría la calidad de vida de los lugareños

- Complementar la idea con un proyecto de Ciclo Vías.

- Incentivar  al Mundo Privado a invertir en el área

In accordance with the valuation of our Architectural Heritage, the Railway History of our area, and be inserted into one of the tourist circuits of Angol, in celebration of the National Heritage Day.
 
The proposal made by the Municipal Tourism Office and supported by the Cultural Association "A mí me gusta la Historia de Angol", with respect to the Assessment and Conservation of the Communal Architectural Heritage and the Development of tourist circuits in Angol.
 
It is still possible to dream and travel back in time through the history of railway bridges, many witnesses of an age that went away, below, a brief historical review of the Railway Bridge N° 1 on the Rehue river.
 
One of the most romantic railway bridges of Angol, is which is located between Angol and Deuco. Its fascinating history begins when during the Government of the President Mr. Aníbal Pinto, called a proposal by Presidential Decree of September 05, 1883, to build a railway line between Angol and Traiguén. The company that was awarded the construction was Mayers and Hilmann, formed by American contractors Esteban Mayers and Carlos Fletcher Hilmann, who begin their design and construction, which symbolically put the first stone on January 24, 1884 and the work remains in the hands of the Chief Engineer Victorino Aurelio Lastarria, he discovered the Deuco Quarrie whose stone built masonry bridges from Angol - Traiguén and Robleria - Collipulli, including the Malleco Viaduct.
 
The bridge has 45 meters, and was designed by factory Clarke and Reeves and Co. Of Phoenix City, United States. It was the most modern bridge of the time, similar in the United States with system Linville beamed, with bolted joints, tie rods and columns at its base.

The Phoenix column, patented by the American Samuel Reeves in 1862, was a hollow cylinder composed of four, six or eight segments wrought iron riveted together. This column was lighter than those built of solid iron.
 
The Zapadores Battalion, was destined to deal with the work of masonry, assembly and the construction of the bridge. The Military began the bridge embankment on February 18, 1887, the iron was sent from Phoenix and built in Angol, the columns and joints of puddling or beaten iron.  As curiosity this company manufactured the puddling iron was used in the Eiffel Tower, built between 1887 and 1889, which is also the same iron with was built the bridge over the Rehue river road to Deuco, two buildings united by the same factory, and the same time.  Opened on October 24, 1972 and in 1975, it was available with 1° Angol Station Master.

The Phoenix Iron Works (1855: Phoenix Iron Company; 1949: Phoenix Iron & Steel Company; 1955: Phoenix Steel Corporation), located in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, was a manufacturer of iron and related products during the 19th century and early 20th century. Phoenix Iron Company was a major producer of cannons for the Union Army during the American Civil War. The company also produced the Phoenix column, an advance in construction material. Company facilities are a core component of the Phoenixville Historic District, a National Register of Historic Places site that was in 2006 recognized as a historic landmark by ASM International.
